Introduction
A position has become available for a Space Planning Specialist to join our dynamic team.
Job description

To develop and implement customer focused modulars that are operationally efficient and deliver the category trading plans for SPAR through product selection and planning within the modular to maximise sales and profit.
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
 
Planning & Planogram Design: 
 
  • Focus space planning and category management on the target shopper within the strategic framework as set in the category business plans.
  • Execute brand standards and support the development and execution of cluster specific brand standards.
  • Analyse midi-space allocation against predetermined benchmarks.
  • Execute category planning through developing category plans and category strategy for assortment, shelf layout, promotional strategy, price positions, new stores, and store revamps.
Implementation & Review: 
 
  • Provide stores with accurate modular information to enable successful implementation for micro and mid space.
  • Liaise with respective stakeholders in executing changes and ensuring execution to completion of planograms.
  • Attend trade visits during implementation and post implementation.
  • Provide reports and feedback on post implementation reviews, e.g., non-compliance, out of stock analysis, etc.
Research & Analytics: 
 
  • Analyse datasets to provide guidance on the effective and efficient space allocation by SBU’s and categories across sites.
  • Measure and review category performance and SKU profitability by segment – post implementation reviews.
  • Provide feedback to the space planning team based on findings and circulate to business.
Database Management: 
 
  • Maintain category master data, classified on levels of category, sub-category, segment, and sub-segment.
  • Ensure that the image library, fixture, and modular databases are up to date. 
  • Be accountable for modular accuracy and the timeous communication of all information required to enable efficient stock flows to stores. 
Stakeholder Relationship Management: 
 
  • Align cross-functional departments to space planning strategies.
  • Develop and maintain impactful relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support internal stakeholders by enabling the assortment optimisation process through data analysis and opportunity identification.

Minimum requirements

  • Matric.
  • A Marketing, Business Commerce or Supply Chain related qualification. 
  • 2-3 Years retail experience in space planning or design.
  • Must be well equipped in space planning tools technologies.
  • Project management experience advantageous.
  • Must possess good, self-awareness, self-management. 
  • Candidate must be principled, values driven & results focused.
  • Credibility & the ability to work under pressure.
