Tips for Gardeners

Make use of household items and even kitchen waste to help you out in the garden.
  •  Save your egg shells in a container or bucket, cover with hot water and leave for two or three days, then pour onto hydrangea bushes. The liquid is an excellent tonic for the hydrangea.
  • Dig your fingernails into a cake of soap before putting on gardening gloves. When finished gardening you will pleased to find your nails clean!
  • Filter coffee grounds and leftover black tea is splendid for feeding indoor plants.
  • To clean a glass vase stained by deteriorating flowers in water, rinse out the vase and add a solution of two denture cleaning tablets dissolved in warm water.  Allow to stand for several hours or overnight.
