Cajun Spiced Braai Chicken with Yoghurt Dressing Recipe

Try this marinated chicken made with SPAR Select Chicken pieces the next time you have a braai.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 2kg SPAR Select Chicken braai pack 
  • 1 tablespoon SPAR chicken spice 
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun spice 
  • 2 teaspoon SPAR steak & chops spice 
  • 150g BBQ sauce 
  • 3 tablespoon (45ml) SPAR Canola oil + extra, to drizzle 
  • Juice of half a SPAR Freshline lemon 

Yoghurt dressing 

  • 125g plain SPAR yoghurt 
  • 1 handful SPAR Freshline parsley, chopped +extra sprigs, to garnish 
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 SPAR Freshline lemons, cut in half

Recipe Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, place the spices, sauce and oil. Mix well. Add chicken and combine well to ensure all the pieces are coated with the spices. Refrigerate for 1 hour to marinate.
  2. Put yoghurt and parsley in a small bowl, season with salt and pepper and mix. Refrigerate until needed.
  3. On a braai grid placed over hot coals, place the chicken and drizzle with extra oil. Braai for 25 – 30 minutes, basting with the leftover marinade every 5 minutes.
  4. Chargrill the halved lemons on the braai for 1 minute or until charred. Set aside until needed.
  5. Serve the chicken with the charred lemon halves and yoghurt sauce. Garnish with the extra parsley sprigs.
