High Fibre Energy Snack Recipe

This savoury snack made with cereals is perfect for children to enjoy after school when they need an energy boost.

Recipe Ingredients

250 ml of each

  • Puffed wheat breakfast cereal (not the frosted type)
  • SPAR Bran flakes
  • SPAR Corn flakes
  • Wheat flakes eg new WeetBix flakes
  • SPAR Quick Cooking Oats
  • Raw, shelled, ground nuts

Plus

  • 100 ml SPAR Olive oil
  • Savoury seasoning powder of choice eg Aromat new cheese flavour

Recipe Method

  1. Set oven at 190 º C with oven shelf one above centre
  2. Measure out the cereals and nuts onto a large baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle over the oil, and using cleaned hands, toss to lightly coat the cereals. Sprinkle the seasoning liberally.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, tossing occasionally. Remove when attractively browned. Give a final light sprinkle of the same seasoning.
  5. Set aside to cool and crispen before packing away.

Hints & Tips

Do not over-bake to prevent a burned flavour of the cereal or nuts.
Try this with chicken spice, flame-grilled barbeque spice or salt and vinegar spice.
