Baked Strawberry Doughnuts Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

NB: You will need two doughnut baking trays to make this recipe.

  • 1 cup (250 g) SPAR Brown Bread Wheat Flour 
  • 1/2 cup SPAR Cake Wheat Flour 
  • 1/2 cup SPAR Castor Sugar 
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon SPAR Bicarbonate of soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large SPAR egg
  • ½ cup SPAR Double Cream Plain Yoghurt
  • ½ cup finely chopped SPAR Freshline strawberries
  • 4 tablespoons SPAR Refined coconut oil, melted
  •  ¼ cup SPAR 2% Low Fat Milk
  • vegetable oil or spray

For the glaze 

  • 2 cups SPAR icing sugar 
  • 1 tablespoon SPAR Double Cream Plain Yoghurt
  • ½ cup finely chopped SPAR Freshline strawberries

Recipe Method

  1. Preheat oven to 160°. 
  2. Grease two doughnut baking trays with vegetable oil or spray.
  3. Mix dry ingredients; flours, sugar, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt until combined. 
  4. Gently mix in the wet ingredients, egg, yoghurt, strawberries, oil and milk. 
  5. Fold mixture with a spatula until all combined well.
  6. Spoon doughnut batter into each doughnut mould. A piping bag can also be used.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes. The doughnuts are ready when a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.
  8. Remove the doughnuts from the oven and allow them to cool completely. You can leave on the doughnut baking tray for 5 minutes and transfer onto cooling rack thereafter.


For the glaze

  1. In a bowl crush 1/2 cup of strawberries with a fork. Add 1½ cups icing sugar and whisk until you have a thick glaze. Set aside.
  2. In a different bowl whisk ½ cup of icing sugar together with yoghurt until smooth.
  3. Dip doughnuts into strawberry glaze, let it set by turning over on a rack for 10 minutes or until glaze sets.
  4. Use a spoon or icing bag to drizzle yoghurt icing and leave to set.
