Swiss Roll Fridge Dessert
This colourful trifle style dessert uses ready-made swiss roll, jelly, yoghurt and cream. Yum.
Swiss Roll Fridge Dessert
  • Prep: 15 minutes Cook: 2 hrs to chill

  • Serves: 8

Ingredients

  • 1 SPAR Freshline jam swiss roll
  • 1 box SPAR cherry jelly powder
  • 250 ml boiling water
  • 675 ml SPAR wild berry fruit yoghurt (500 ml + 175 ml tub)
  • 150 ml SPAR fresh cream, stiffly whipped
  • Sweets such as Jelly Tots or seasonal fruit to decorate

Method

  1. Slice off 10 even slices from the swiss roll, and position each slice against the sides and in the base of a glass serving bowl.
  2. Dissolve the jelly powder in the boiling water. Chill until just on the point of thickening. Blend in the yoghurt, followed by the cream.
  3. Pour the filling into the bowl and chill for a at least two hours.
  4. Decorate with fresh seasonal fruit or sprinkle sweets over 
 
 
  • A serrated bread knife works best for the neatest cutting of the fresh swiss roll.
  • Never place jelly into a freezer to hurry up the process as this will destroy its setting ability and your filling will not firm up later on.
  • Candy-coated chocolate sweets, e.g. Smarties and Astros, although colourful, are not a good choice for a moist dessert such as this one, as their colour coating bleeds into the filling and spoils the appearance.
