Apple Pie Jaffles Recipe

A delicious apple, raisin and almond treat that's perfect with a big scoop of ice cream.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 5 SPAR Freshline green apples, peeled and cubed
  • 100 g (125 ml) SPAR brown sugar
  • 80 ml almond liqueur (Amaretto), optional
  • 100 g raisins
  • 12 slices SPAR Bakery white bread
  • 60 ml softened SPAR butter
  • 100 g flaked almonds
  • 65 g (125 ml) SPAR icing sugar
  • SPAR ice-cream for serving

Recipe Method

  1. Mix apples, sugar, liqueur and raisins.
  2. Spread one side of each slice of bread with butter. Place one slice at a time in jaffle iron, buttered side facing down.
  3. Spoon apple mixture on top.
  4. Sprinkle some almonds on top and dust with ample icing sugar.
  5. Place second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing up. Close iron and trim off excess bread.
  6. Fry over low heat for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  7. Remove from iron and make more jaffles with the rest of the bread and filling.
  8. Serve warm with ice-cream.
